Master bathrooms have become one of the most considered spaces of a home’s design. They are an extension of the master bedroom and provide a place for pampering where homeowners can relax and recharge after a hectic day. When founder of Renowned Renovation, Grant Woodruff and interior designer Melissa Blassingille were tasked with updating a two-bedroom, two-bath unit at The Travis at Katy Trail a 17 story high-rise in Dallas, Texas, the result in the master bathroom was nothing short of spectacular. The once small and dated space has been transformed into a bright, spacious spa-like retreat with the power of thoughtful space planning.

With the objective of presenting a timeless and functional space to their client, Grant and Melissa based all of their design decisions on their client’s wish list. “Our style is creative and personalized based on the client’s vision,” says Grant. “Our goal is to make their vision make sense from a design perspective.”

With particular designs, homeowners can tend to feel stuck with a particular style or time period. Rather than focusing on one specific theme, Interior Designer Melissa combined contemporary, eclectic, and luxury elements such as Italian Bianco Dolomite for the countertops, mahogany cabinetry, warm oak floors, and Infinity Drain’s Site Sizable Circle Linear Drain in the shower, to accentuate the master bathroom design.

In the previous design, the shower was closed off and tucked away which made the bathroom feel small and closed off. The use of Infinity Drain’s linear drain allowed Grant to open up the space and make the shower the focal point of the bathroom.

“We use Infinity Drain because it has a lot of flexibility. We do a lot of high-rise condo work so you’re dealing with very thick post-tension slabs with occupied spaces below so coring is not always an option”

In the design world of consistently changing trends, a classic interior is a breath of fresh air. The transition of an awkward and dated space to an open and functional transitional design provides the homeowners with a new space that will evolve with their style for years to come.
